How to Find a Painting Contractor

You do an Internet search for “Baltimore painting contractor” only to be overwhelmed by the pages and pages of listings. There’s no way you have time to click each and every link. Your commercial property is long overdue for new exterior paint, so how do you go about finding a quality painting contractor in a short amount of time? First of all, don’t freak out. That won’t help anybody. Take a deep breath, and then follow these steps from our crew at Dulaney Painting, LLC.

1. Ask for recommendations.

Here’s a shocker: Your first step shouldn’t be an Internet search. Use good, old-fashioned means of communication by asking your friends, family, co-workers, or other business owners for painting contractor recommendations. Ask them questions about their experiences. From here, you should be able to develop a list of contactors you want to consider.

2. Do your research.

Okay, NOW you can open up your laptop and do some digging into each painting company’s website. Read through their business credentials, years of experience, and painting services. Look into customer reviews, if they’re listed. During this step, be sure to also make a list of questions you have for the painting contractor after browsing each website.

3. See their work for yourself.

If you have a bit of extra time, try to see the painting contractor’s past work firsthand. However, if you can’t afford to make the trip, then ask the contractor for digital images of similar painting projects.

4. Ask questions & get a quote.

You know that list of questions you created in step two? Now is the time to get one- on-one with the painting contractors and ask them. Pay attention not only to the contractors’ answers but also to their professionalism and communication skills. At the end of the conversation, ask for a written quote that includes both materials and labor. (You don’t want to be caught off guard by hidden labor costs.)

5. Make the call.

You’ve done your part in narrowing down your painting contractor options. Now, go with your gut, and select the contractor who seems like your best option. Soon enough, your exterior painting project will be underway, and your Baltimore business will look better than ever.

If your business is in the Baltimore, MD, or Washington, D.C., area, be sure to keep us—Dulaney Painting, LLC—on your list of potential painting contractors. We have over 60 years of combined experience, and no painting job is too big or too small. To ask a question or to get a free quote, contact Dulaney Painting, LLC at (410) 384-8440.
