Commercial Painting

4 Questions to Ask Your Painting Contractor

You’re ready for your office to get a fresh, new look. You’re tired of the walls that haven’t been updated since the mid-1990s—and they are showing serious signs of wear. Before you hire a painting contractor, take some time to make sure you hire the right one. To separate the pros from the posers, we recommend that you ask a potential painter these four questions.

1. What are your qualifications?

First and foremost, make sure the painting contractor is in fact qualified, licensed, and insured. You can request that the painter supply credentials as well as any other relevant certifications.

2. Can you tell me about your home-improvement experience?

A new commercial painting company can be just as skilled as an established one, but it’s good to know how much experience that painting crew brings to the table. Ask whether the contractor specializes in commercial painting and wallcovering installation; many do one but not the other.

3. How much do you charge?

Always get a written quote before entering into a contract. Make sure the costs are itemized, and ask any questions you might have regarding material costs, labor, and so on. Understand all possible costs before moving forward.

4. What materials do you use?

Less expensive isn’t always a plus when it comes to painting your commercial space. You want quality materials that will last, so if you get a quote that seems really low in comparison to the competition, be sure to find out specifically what materials they’re using. Don’t be afraid to do a little consumer research, too.
